It seems that there will be no end to the Takada Airbag issue. The Japanese carmaker has launched another recall that involves a whopping 109,000 vehicles in Australia hence accumulating to the 4.89 million affected vehicles worldwide.
At the land down under, the recall affects the 2004-2009 Jazz, 2002-2008 CR-V, 2004-2005 Civic and the 2004-2007 Accord Euro. Owners of the aforementioned have been notified of the recall and they are advised to send their car for inspection at the nearest Honda service centre.
In case Honda drivers in Australia are unaware, the Takada airbag has the tendency to explode on its own, even when there is no accident. The issue has resulted in five deaths and many injuries. The thing is that the issue has persisted for so long now and there seems to be no real solution.
For us, we feel that it is better to remove the airbag feature once and for all but that will drastically increase the risk of injuries or death in an accident. Well, better that than becoming a sitting duck waiting to get shot down.
