For more than a decade already, fans of the Half Life series have been kept waiting for Half Life 3. The wait has stretched so long that a growing number of the fans are suggesting for Valve to get a third party developer to produce Half Life 3.
Well, this should not and won’t happen. The Half Life series can easily be described as one of the most popular gaming franchises in history and it is considered as Valve’s finest product. Also, Half Life 3 is viewed as a jewel in the eyes of Valve.
As such, there is no chance for Valve to miss out on developing Half Life 3 and pass it to a different developer instead. Doing so will only prove that Valve is not a passionate game maker and it carries a high risk of spoiling the entire Half Life franchise.
Such a scenario is something Valve would want to avoid and they would rather wait for that extra free time to produce Half Life 3 rather than simply passing the project to another developer.
