Owning a Mercedes in Malaysia can cut a serious hole in your wallet if you are not financially prepared. To make matters even worse, opting for the grey import, or recon, models will also force you to spend.
In a recent announcement by Mercedes Malaysia, they will not accept warranty for the cheaper Mercedes bought through grey import. This is due to their different specification, which does not blend well with the local resources.
Mercedes specifically revealed that Malaysia’s petrol quality is at a poor rating. As such, it can cause damages to the Mercedes cars that are not tuned for it. With more and more consumers purchasing their Mercedes from grey import due to its cheaper price, the fact that they are not tuned for the local oil will void the warranty.
Mercedes Malaysia further confirms that the direct-injection CGI, which was introduced 2-years ago, has been tweaked to suit local fuel.
