When it comes to luxury crossovers, it is always a tie-off between BMW and Porche. The former had just launched the X4 and the latter has the bestselling Macan. Today, we shall see which of the two the better purchase is.
In terms of pricing, the Porsche Macan is the cheaper of the two as it comes with a price tag of £43,535. The X4 retails at £46,408.
When looking at the Macan, the SUV is powered by a 3L V6 engine that offers 255hp at 4000rpm and 580Nm. The engine is mated to a 7-speed automatic transmission and it powers on the 4WD system. Performance-wise, the Macan can sprint from 0-100km/h in just 5.8s. Also there is a top speed of 142mph.
The BMW X4, on the other hand, is powered by a 3L 6-cylinder that offers 255hp at 4000rpm and 560Nm.The engine is paired to an 8-speed automatic transmission that operates on the 4WD system. The X4 accelerates from 0-100km/h in 5.5s and a top speed of 145mph.
Judging be the stats above, it is pretty obvious that the X4 is the more powerful vehicle. Furthermore, the X4 is more eco-friendly as it returns 30.6mpg. The Macan, on the other hand, drains oil at a rate of 28.3mpg.
Putting the vehicles side-by-side, it looks like the Macan is better groomed than the X4. It has a more rounded structure and the hallmark design from Porsche. The X4 looks jagged and ferocious and it doesn’t look luxurious for a vehicle in the luxury SUV segment.
Both cars have a 500L boot space which features 40:20:40 split back seats. However, when folded down, the Macan can offer 1,500L, which is 100L.
In terms of handling, there is no competing with the Macan as it is able to offer sports car performance, even when it is an SUV. Both vehicles are able to handle the off-road terrain with ease.
While it may be tough to split the two apart, a winner has to be announced and we’ve decided it to be with the X4. The SUV might be more expensive but due to its fuel efficiency, the X4 can save a lot of money in the long run.
