Google had just launched the new member of the Nexus smartphone family, the LG Nexus 5. Together with it, they also launched the new Android 4.4 KitKat which was pre-installed in the LG Nexus 5.
The Android 4.4 KitKat had an updated Linux kernel that enables the latest Android operating system to run on devices with low random access memory. It means, older devices would be able to get the Android 4.4 KitKat update. Previously, owners of the original Samsung Galaxy Note and Samsung Galaxy S2 had been turned down by the news that the Android 4.2.2 Jelly Bean would be the last update that these two smartphones would get. However, the release of the Android 4.4 KitKat completely changed the situation.
Android Central confirmed that the Android 4.4 KitKat would support smartphones with lower random access memory and even released a list of smartphones that would receive the update. You can see the list below.
• Galaxy Grand and Grand DUOS
• Galaxy Ace II
• Galaxy S III mini
• Galaxy Beam
• Galaxy Express
• Galaxy S Advance
• Galaxy S II and S II Plus
• Galaxy Premier
• Galaxy Note I
• Galaxy Young and Young DUOS
• Galaxy Fame
• Galaxy X Cover 2
The update would also come to selected Galaxy Tabs. Do you see your Samsung smartphone listed? I do (Hahaha!) Don’t ask about the newer devices, you don’t have to list them out to know that they will get the Android 4.4 KitKat update.
