We were really hoping that the 2017 Mazda CX-5 model will be the first premium CX-5 that we will be getting from Mazda. After all the rumors and speculating, we all had our hopes up but it all turned out to be for nothing as Mazda decided to stay put for the 2017 model.
It was initially predicted that the Mazda CX-5 will be upgraded so that it will come with premium features and tech on the inside. It probably also meant that it was going to cost more to own one but the public seems to be ready for that.
Even though we still do not know the price of the Mazda CX-5 here in the US, the announced price in Japan is more than enough to give us an idea of where the Mazda CX-5 is in the market.
However, the good news is that Mazda will be offering us their diesel-powered Mazda CX-5. The diesel model will be fitted with a 2.0-liter SkyActiv-D engine that will be pushing out about 155PS.
