It is all about the off-road now as automakers try to take on the Ford F-150 Raptor. There were talks about Ram possibly coming out with a new Raptor rival based on the Rebel TRX concept and now, it looks like even GM wants to have a go at taking down the Raptor.
While most people would not think that the Chevrolet Silverado is a direct rival to the Ford F-150 Raptor, the new package that GM is looking to offer might actually be a threat to the Raptor.
GM announce that they will be offering a new Silverado All Terrain X model based on the 2500HD model. The All Terrain X model will be coming in with a 6.6-liter turbo diesel V8 engine that will be delivering about 445hp. While that is lower than what the Raptor is offering right now, the All Terrain X model makes it up by offering about 910lb ft of torque, clearly bearing the 510lb ft that the Raptor is offering right now.
Not only will it be getting an engine upgrade but it will also be getting some exterior upgrade that will include a set of LED lights, rims, body color moldings as well as a set 18inch wheels.
Should Ford be worried?
