Porsche sounded ridiculous when they announced on producing an SUV that performs like a sports car some years ago. Today, that vision came true as the German carmaker is bagging so many profits from the sale of the latest Macan Turbo.
There is so much demand for the vehicle that many buyers are left in a waiting period of 6-months before they can get their hands on the Macan. The local dealers alone accumulated a total of 280 orders in counting.
This is not surprising as the Macan Turbo is truly a rich man’s toy. It comes with sporty features like larger air scoops and quad squared tailpipes. Furthermore, the seating position in the cockpit are lowered which make drivers feel like they are driving a sedan, not an off-roader.
Inside the cabin, there is the familiar floating centre console that stands out from the premium level of fit and finish. Then again, the many buttons and switches are still present on the Macan Turbo which can cause quite a few headaches to new Porsche owners.
The top of the line model, in particular, comes with an engine that offers 400bhp along with 550Nm. The motor is powerful enough to accelerate from 0-100km/h in just 4.8s. Furthermore, the steering is so precise and responsive that one can forget they are actually driving an SUV. True to what Porsche said, the Macan Turbo looks like an SUV but performs like a sports car.
On the downside of things, the Macan Turbo is not built for the masses. The fact that it cost $100,000 means that the vehicle is only for the upper echelon.
