It appears that Jeep is taking a cautious approach when releasing the all-new Cherokee diesel in the US market. The all-American company is wary of the slow diesel market in the great nation and hence, hold the release of the Cherokee diesel variant.
Jeep revealed that they will be monitoring the already released Grand Cherokee before deciding if the Cherokee diesel has got what it takes to wow the Americans. After all, the Grand Cherokee runs on the diesel mill and if sales are not impressive, it will certainly have an effect on the fate of Cherokee diesel.
In detail, Jeep’s Mike Manly confirmed that the company wants to see sales of the Grand Cherokee to at least double before it can convince them to release the Cherokee diesel. The lad added that the Grand Cherokee is much larger than the latter which makes it more appropriate to run on a diesel mill. If Americans are not thrilled by it, there is no doubt that the Cherokee diesel won’t be a hit.
At the moment, the Cherokee diesel is already released in the European market. There, the vehicle has been selling remarkably well. In the US market however, the Cherokee diesel is hanging on a thread and might just be axed from a local release.
