Just a day prior to the New York Auto Show, Land Rover stole the spotlight after the company launched the Discovery Vision concept. Land Rover further confirmed that the vehicle will be the base model for future Discovery.
When looking at the Discovery Vision, we can see that it comes with stepped roof, alpine lights and extra versatility which are overall attractive. The Discovery Vision is basically built to represent a car that is practical, reconfigurable and in demand.
The seats inside the Land Rover Discovery Vision are all movable and can be folded down through the touchscreen centre console. There can be seven, six, five or four seat layout which further proves why the Concept is super versatile with its offering.
The seats are all wrapped in premium leather that is both washable and oil/water repellent. Also, the flooring and the instrument panel are all finished in wood vaneers.
The eye-candy inside the vehicle is the Human-Machine Interface (HMI). It basically allows the driver to communicate with the passengers via video calls. With it, driver can also control the glasshouse, and doors, headlights, indicators and seatback screens through hand gestures.
On the outside, the tailgate is now a one-piece unit with a fully functional rear sill step. The latter can fit a folding bench seat and a bike, or ski, rack.
Just from the above, the Discovery Vision is already regarded as something special. Well, the vehicle is going to create a whole new level of awesomeness as it comes with a single technology that the world has never seen before.
It is the transparent hood. When taking the Discovery Vision off-road, a single button can turn the hood into a see-through. How is this possible? Land Rover revealed that they attached a wide lens camera under the hood to capture the surroundings beneath the vehicle. The live feed is then broadcasted via a projector resting at the top of the vehicle. The projection will appear on the hood, making it look as if the front is invisible.
This is something revolutionary as it will help the drivers tackle the hidden obstacles on an off-road adventure. With it, drivers will get a boost in confidence when driving the Discovery Vision.
