The latest Subaru WRX STi surprised the world as it arrived with a super powerful 2.5 litre turbocharged F4 engine that produces 305hp. On top of that, drivers get to experience the raw power through a six-speed manual transmission.
Then there is the Porsche Cayman which is double the cost of the WRX. However, the engine output is much weaker at only 275hp. It comes with a six speed manual transmission, which is similar to the WRX.
When putting both cars in a race with each other, it seems that the WRX has got much better acceleration. It is able to stay ahead of the Cayman for most part of the race. However, the latter manage to overtake the WRX when nearing the finishing line.
For a car with more horsepower, it surprised us to see the WRX falling to second place. While the reasons remain unknown, many experts felt that the sports car from Subaru failed in the aerodynamic segment.
Nevertheless, the Cayman showed the world why it has the better performance between the two. The smooth engine never complained one bit when being put to the test.
With the next Subaru WRX tipped to arrive 2015, we look forward to checking out another race between it and the future Cayman.
