The recent Moscow Motor Show played host to a series of great vehicles and concepts from various make. Among them is the Chevrolet Niva, which looks serious to conquer the 4×4 market, particularly in America.
Here in the US, 4×4 are always associated with Jeep. The latter has been dominating the local 4×4 market for decades now and it is about time a new name steps up to challenge it. This should be an interesting watch.
The Niva comes with a compact body but the design simply says, “Take me off-road”. Viewers should be able to spot the many off-roading instruments like BF Goodrich tires, a winch, snorkel, underbody cladding, tow hooks, integrated lamp guards, auxiliary lighting and a big roof rack.
Behind those gears, viewers can still see the typical grille and shapes from Chevrolet. On the tail section however, the Niva looks heavily inspired by the designs from Mercedes-Benz.
At the moment, the information on the Niva remains scarce. Chevrolet didn’t talk much about the vehicle probably because it was testing the public’s reaction first. As far as we know, the reception is a rather positive one and we are confident that the Niva will be exhibited in detail during the next motor show.
Jeep should start gearing up as they are facing a potential killer, which is the Niva. Of course, the latter will surely compete with the Renegade once it gets released.
