The all-new VW Passat has been released and like most other Volkswagen vehicles, the high-end saloon is extraordinary. However, when it comes to safety, many analysts and enthusiasts are raising an eyebrow of concern for the Passat.
Yes, the car did achieve 5-star ratings from the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration but there is one segment where the Passat performed below par. It is known as the rollover test.
Apparently, the chances of the driver and passenger surviving a roll over are thin on the Passat. Nevertheless, consumers can rest assured as the risk of rolling over stands at 10.7%. This basically means that the chance of a Passat flipping upside down is slim.
It is also important to note that the German saloon has yet to complete the safety test from the Insurance Institute of Highway Safety.
The Passat has long existed as the rivals to the Lexus saloons, the Mercedes E-Class, the BMW 5-Series and the Audi A6. The car has performed well in the automotive industry but is still pending for a release in the US due to its low popularity.
