Seems like Tesla is in big trouble. But then again, they just wanted to make sure that it’s better being safe than sorry. There was a voluntary recall to fix 90,000 of its Model S cars because of a potentially hazardous seat belt that may not provide full protection. Though there isn’t any that seemed to have defects for the 3,000 inspected cars thus far.
For the owners, they can either set up an appointment online or simply drop-in any of the Tesla car centres to have their cars repaired. It is reported that Tesla will conduct fixes, if and where necessary. It all started when a Model S owner in Europe reported the issue of the seat belt “that was not properly connected to the outboard lap pretensioner,” that made its first alert to the potential hazard.
All in all, this inevitably marks the biggest recall in Tesla’s short history, but the automaker seems to be taking all the right steps to make sure it’s just another minor bump on the road. And that what they did was completely right and proactive. Kudos to the PR team behind Tesla in handling the issue, for it’s a job well done.
