Holden 60th Anniversary Celebrated With The Coupe 60 [PICS]

The latest Auto show in Melbourne became the place where Holden took our breath away with the two-door coupe 60. Holden made full use of its home ground to unveil the car, which is built to celebrate their 60th birthday.

Like a birthday cake, the Coupe 60 is as sweet as it gets with the E85-capable 6.0-liter V-8 mated to a six-speed manual resting under the hood. The car is painted in diamond silver and it also sports 21” rims.

Inside the vehicle, everything is in black and gunmetal to offer that futuristic feel. The gauge cluster is fully digital and under the steering is where the shift light is. The seats are wrapped in leather and it features a four-point racing seatbelts.

While it may be a concept, the Coupe 60 seems like the complete deal. The bumper cuts front and rear, production lighting system, production instrument panel, and the fact it rolls on the same wheelbase as the Commodore sedan simply makes it production-ready.

Then again Holden will have to convince GM to produce the vehicle. The Coupe 60 will be a direct replacement to the Holden Munaro. Then again, the latter has never enjoyed a success in sales.

The odds of the Coupe 60 to step into production are really slim. It doesn’t help when GM is already producing quite a number of coupes like the Chevrolet Camaro and the Dodge Challenger. Even if the Coupe 60 does not get produced, the design will surely be brought forward for future studies.
