Jeep might not be the biggest name in the global luxury SUV market but their latest Grand Cherokee has arrived with so much promises. Unlike most luxury SUV, the Grand Cherokee sports a ferocious design that looks complete if a fugitive is driving it.
Aside from being just an SUV, the Grand Cherokee comes with the best off-road systems from Jeep. Then again, the large car can still behave itself when running on the public roads.
The Grand Cherokee arrived in two variants. Both models are powered by the same 3L V6 diesel engine that has an output of 237bhp and 405 lb-ft torque. The Limited version, in particular, is equipped with standard steel suspension. On the other hand, the Overland version has Quadra Lift sports air suspension that is comes with performance brakes.
Obviously, the latter is the better of the two as it improves handling by a mile. Then again, the Grand Cherokee is still second best to its European counterpart like the BMW X5. Performance remains impressive as the Jeep Cherokee has a top speed of 126mph and is able to sprint from 0-62mph in just 8.2 seconds.
Inside the Grand Cherokee, things are surprisingly ultra-comfortable. Ignoring the cheap plastics, the wood finish and leather wrappings puts Jeep on par with the global luxury SUVs.
The Grand Cherokee also get some improvements to its efficiency. The car returns 34mpg on combined cycle. The large SUV is truly extraordinary and not far behind the best from the luxury SUV segment.
The Grand Cherokee is also as cheap as it gets. The durable parts don’t require frequent servicing. Jeep claims that drivers will only need to service once a year, or every 12,500 miles. This will surely give its rivals a run for their money.
