We were expecting the Mazda CX-5 to come in with a bigger upgrade this time around. While they did upgrade its exterior and interior diesel and gave it a new engine, it is technically still the same Mazda CX-5.
Some people were hoping that the CX-9 engine would make it over to the Mazda CX-5. Performance has been one of the reasons why people have been staying away from the Mazda CX-5 and because of that people have been hoping that the new and powerful engine would make it over but it did not. Diesel is great but the performance issue remains.
There were also talk about Mazda looking to offer the Mazda CX-5 as a premium model. That would mean that the vehicle would come in with a longer list of features and tech and that it will be sporting a bigger price tag but that did not happen as well.
Maybe those upgrade will still happen in the future but for now, they are sticking with the same Mazda CX-5.
