Dealers were sent a bulletin which was supposed to be confidential about some of the airbags in the Toyota Camry being faked. However the bulletin got out and now people in Australia know that some faked airbags are going around.
Toyota Australia has said that two of their suppliers have been using spiral cables in airbags that are fake and retailers have been selling them as parts that are genuine, with or without knowing.
This has meant that there are people driving around in the Toyota Camry and they could have faked parts in their vehicles. As the quality of the faked cables is not the same, there is a risk that they could break.
Owners of the Toyota Camry have been asked to take their vehicles to the dealer and the cables will be replaced if they are fake ones.
