Just over 4,900 first-generation Cadillac CTS-V sedans that were developed between September 6, 2003 and June 11, 2007 are being recalled by General Motors. The majority of the vehicles affected are vegistered in cold weather states where roads use rock salt.
According to the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration’s bulletin, salt may corrode the front brake hose’s fitting in the brake calipers which could result in brake fluid leaking. It goes without saying that due to this, slowing down the Ccorvette-powered Caddy could become a problem.
The vehicles affected were registered or sold in these staes: Delaware, Illinois, Ohio, Pennsylvania, New Hampshire, New Jersey, Massachusetts, Michigan, Connecticut, Minnesota, Missouri, Indiana, Iowa, Maine, Maryland, New York, West Virginia, Wisconsin, Rhode Island, Vermont, and the District of Columbia.
GM are due to start informing owners of the vehicles affected, which will be required to report to dealers to replace both front brake hose assemblies. It goes without saying that these repairs will be free of charge.
