If you spotted the Mercedes-Benz GLC Coupe Concept at this year’s Shanghai Motor Show and it’s something you are interested in, then we have some exciting news for you. The company have given confirmation that this model will be going into production and we will most likely be seeing the road-going model at the beginning of next year, which will most likely happen at the New York Auto Show.
Dr. Gunnar Güthenke, boss of Mercedes’ G-Class, provided us with confirmation at an event after this week’s Frankfurt Motor Show. He is incredibly proub with how Mercedes’ crossover and SUV lines have grown and including the BMW X4-fighting GLC Coupe only shows how commited they are to this growth. The figures show it all – sales for Mercedes’ crossover and SUV lines have increased by 25 percent this year compared to the figures from last year.
Mercedes’ halo of SUVs, the G-Class is even noticing an increase in sales. The G-Class saw a record in sales for 2015 and it looks like they may achieve the same again as there has been an increase in sales of around 20 percent. The G-Wagon will receive several changements for 2016 such as getting a 4.0-liter, twin-turbo V8 as the new base engine. Other markets receive a new diesel engine for 2016 and more updates will be heading our way. “Our legend has a bright future,” Güthenke stated. Keep your eyes peeled for a full review of the updated G550 next week.
