Samsung Galaxy S3 Android KitKat 4.4 Update Available With Custom ROM

Owners of the Samsung Galaxy S3 have been upset to find out that they will not get any more updates, including the latest to KitKat. The worst part is that not all bugs have been fixed and owners are left with bugs and issues.

Owners of the Samsung Galaxy S2 however are luckier as CyanogenMod have launched KitKat 4.4 for people who have the GT-i9100 version. You can follow the installation guide below to put it on your device.

Bear in mind that you need to check to make sure you have the correct version and you need to install the USB drivers onto the computer and back-up your data. You should have 50% battery life and make sure that USB debugging has been enabled. You can then install ClockworkMod along with CyanogenMod 11 along with Google Apps package.

1. Connect the device to the computer via USB
2. Copy the CyanogenMod 11 and Google Apps packages into the SD card. Do Not Extract.
3. Unplug the device and turn it off.
4. Enter recovery mode by Holding down the volume up +power +home at the same time.
5. Once inside, backup the ROM
6. Next, select “wipe data/factory reset” and “wipe cache partition.” Then choose “advanced > wipe Dalvik cache.”
7. Go back to the main menu and install CyanogenMod 11 by selecting “install zip from SD card > choose zip from SD > cyanogenMod 11 / Google Apps> confirm installation.
8. Once done, go back and select reboot system. This process will take up to 5 minutes.
If all has gone well you will now be running KitKat 4.4.
