The company intends to do this with the upcoming Surface 3 tablet. Instead of the usual laptops, the Surface 3 is expected to take mobile PC to a whole new level. It will run on the Windows 8.1 OS which gives it the compatibility with all the softwares for Windows.
Spec-wise, the Surface 3 will have 4K Full HD 10.6 inch display. Under the hood, the slate is powered by the Intel i7 processor with a choice of 8GB or 16GB RAM. This will produce twice the power of the Surface 2 tablet.
On top of that, there will be three variants. The 64GB, 128GB and 256GB. Users will also get to access Microsoft SkyDrive, which is a cloud storage feature. Other hardwares include 720p camera on the front and the back of the device.
If this is true, then the Surface 3 will definitely be the most powerful tablet around. Something like this is expected to cost around $899. Consumers can look forward to the device’s debut towards the end of this year.
