This brand new system is expected to take games to the next-gen universe. Looking at the games today, most of them are having an open play environment as their respective game engines are capable of supporting it. This has led the Half Life fans to consider on Half Life 3 being an open play game.
The existing Half Life games are streamlined but Valve made it in a way that players get their chance to do some individual exploration. It can be said to be an FPS with RPG gameplay. If there is to be an open world Half Life 3, it is going to offer something totally different than the first two titles. On the other hand, the fans trust Valve will be able to pull it off.
On the other side of the coin, some fans worry that an open play environment will affect many traditional gameplay methods which will kill Half Life’s identity.
There are some pros and cons to having and open world in Half Life 3. Nevertheless, whatever gameplay that Half Life 3 looks to offer will definitely be welcomed by the gamers. What are your views on this?
