The Mazda CX-9 might have gotten the upgrade first but it looks like the Mazda CX-5 is the one having the last laugh as it will be the first Mazda to come in with a diesel engine under the hood.
Mazda showed off the new Mazda CX-5 and also announce the new engines that the Mazda CX-5 will be offering when it arrives. Besides the standard gasoline engine that they will be offering, the Mazda CX-5 will also be coming with a 2.2-liter Skyactive-D engine.
A lot of people were surprised when Mazda first announce it as it seems like most automakers are trying to avoid offering their diesel powered model here in the US after the Volkswagen emission scandal but Mazda saw this as a perfect opportunity to push their diesel-powered SUV here in the US.
The new Mazda CX-5 with the diesel engine will be arriving in February next year.
