LG might have already launched the highly anticipated Android 5.0 Lollipop update for the G2 but the OS came out with tons of issues. Users of the G2 are complaining on the bugs, crashes and glitches that have been plaguing their device after applying the update.
If you are a G2 user, you don’t have to be upset by this any longer. This is because there is now another way for you to enjoy the Lollipop without any issues and it is through applying the custom ROM that was developed by XDA’s Rashed97.
The custom ROM was launched last month but today, most of the issues have been fixed and this makes the firmware better than the official version that was launched by LG.
The only downside to this is that the custom ROM can only be applied manually. You can head over to XDA and download the custom ROM. Then, follow our simplified installation instruction below.
Do note that the custom ROM is only compatible with the G2 D800, D801, D802, LS980 and VS980 variants. The procedure is as follow:
Pre-requisite
1. Make sure a backup is created and the device is already rooted with CWM. We recommend doing so with NANDROID.
2. A minimum of 50% battery life to ensure no disruption when installation is taking place.
3. CM12 ROM ZIP downloaded for the G2.
4. Google Apps Package downloaded.
Flashing Instruction
1. Transfer both the Custom ROM and Google Apps Package to your G2.
2. Boot device into recovery mode and wipe cache, data and system partition.
3. Flash the CM12 ROM.
4. Then, Flash the Google Apps Package.
5. The G2 should reboot and it will run on the Lollipop OS.
