2015 Ford F-150: EcoBoost vs 5L V8

The latest Ford F-150 is truly an amazing pickup truck to own. However, many consumers are caught in a dilemma on whether they should get the 3.5L EcoBoost engine o the 5L V8 engine. Both engines are indeed powerful and this is why consumers are curious on their respective fuel economy.

In terms of price, the 5L V8-powered Ford F-150 is cheaper than the EcoBoost variant. This is basically because the engine offers a no-nonsense performance where only raw power is produced.

The EcoBoost engine, on the other hand, has been awarded for being the best engine technology right now. However, EcoBoost motors are all turbocharged and it might take the driving feel away from the purists.

On the 3.5L EcoBoost-powered F-150, the vehicle returned an average of 16mpg on combined usage. The worst average users experienced is 15mpg while the average best is at 18mpg. The 5L V8, on the other hand returns a poorer ratings of 14mpg on average.

While we are more leaned towards recommending getting the EcoBoost motor, it is still better for consumers to settle with the 5L V8 engine. This is because the V8 produces great performance and a nice sounding roar. Also, the fact that the EcoBoost is new and turbocharged puts it at risk of being unreliable in the long run.
