Android 4.4 KitKat Roadmap For S3, Xperia, Moto X & Note 3

The latest Android OS today is the KitKat 4.4.2. The firmware was released together with the Nexus 5 late last year and with the many Android-operated smartphones out there, it can get confusing on which devices are entitled to the update.

Most of the confusion involves Samsung, Motorola and Sony devices. We have done the research for you and wish to clear the air on which smartphones will get the update.

Firstly is Motorola. Users of the Moto X as well as the RAZR smartphones can relax as they are all planned for the Android 4.4.2 KitKat update. The catch for the Moto X is that it is only for the AT&T variants.

As for Sony, the Xperia Z1, Z1 Compact and the Xperia Z Ultra will all get updated to the KitKat. This has been foretold in Sony’s blog. Other devices from the Japanese company that will get the KitKat are the Xperia Z, Xperia ZL, Xperia Tablet Z, Xperia T2 Ultra, Xperia E1 and Xperia M2. The update will take place throughout Q1 and Q2 this year.

Finally is Samsung. It seems that a delay will affect the Samsung Galaxy S3 smartphone. On the other hand, Samsung Saudi Arabia and Samsung Poland has cancelled the update for this old device as well. The Galaxy note 2 on the other hand will only be updated on selected countries. As for the Note 3, there is no need to worry as it is at the top of the KitKat’s list.

For the KitKat, there is so much drama on which devices will be updated. After all, this latest OS is able to support devices with low memory drive. With every passing day, we do hope that there won’t be any further changes on the KitKat’s road map.
