In case you are unaware, last month was the second-best month for the latest Nissan Leaf in terms of sales this year. Nissan recorded 1,533 units sold and this further widens the gap between the Leaf and the Chevrolet Volt here in the US.
Speaking of which, the Volt only managed 905 units sold last month and this is an incline from the month of March. However, the rise in sales is only because of the special promotions and rebates that are going on with the Volt.
Both the Volt and Leaf are the top two bestselling EVs here in the US. However, the Volt’s fluctuating sales can be explained. A recent market study revealed that majority of the consumers is actually waiting for Chevrolet to launch the next-gen Volt.
The future EV car is expected to make its debut later this year and the recent auto shows heavily suggests that the Volt is going to be more promising than before. As such, many consumers are holding off from buying a new EV car now and this explains why the existing Volt is not selling well.
