Owning a Mercedes vehicle in Malaysia can really cut a hole in your wallet. This is why many, who desire to drive a Mercedes, are referring to unauthorized dealers that offer the reconditioned imported models for a cheaper price.
However, little do the masses know that these ‘Grey Import’ cars are not built to meet Malaysian standard. They either come in UK Spec or Japan Spec which carries their own flaws.
Mercedes-Benz Malaysia (MBM) announces that every Grey Import vehicles will see their warranty voided due its incompatibility with Malaysia’s fuel. MBM added that the petrol in Malaysia is of Euro 2 standard, which are a few levels lower than the average global standard.
MBM explained that the Mercedes vehicles for Malaysia are tweaked to support the local fuel standards. The grey imports, on the other hand, are not customized to have this support. As such, any damages that are to arise from the local fuel incompatibility will see the warranty being voided entirely.
MBM advises the masses to purchase their Mercedes only at authorized dealers to avoid any complications.
