Android 4.4.3 KitKat Update Now Available For Nexus 4, 5, 7 & 10 [IBT]

A photo that has leaked online suggests that Google has started to send out KitKat 4.4.3 to its Nexus handsets.

We have seen a photo which shows a device with 4.4.3 on the Google Nexus 7. In the photo you can see on the About Page that it says Android version 4.4.3. We did hear that Google have been hard at work on the latest version of KitKat, however Google hasn’t said when it will be released.

We have no idea where the photo came from and it is weird that there hasn’t been any official change log seen, if the update is being sent out. Typically Google updates the AOSP binaries page whenever they launch a new update.

Another thing that looks suspicious is the build number. The build number of the new update was KTU72B and KTU83. The KT stands for KitKat, U is for the Update and the numbers are the builds, created on the 72nd day of 2014 and 83rd day of 2014. However the photo should KMU89C.

This photo was launched on April Fools day so it could well have been a hoax. Owners of Android phones should not get too excited just yet, as nothing has been confirmed.

Google typically sends out updates for Android during the week, as opposed to the weekend. The updates usually come out in stages too.

Android Police did mention that KitKat 4.4.3 will be a massive bug fix update when it arrives and there perhaps won’t be any new features or changes. Google could save these for their next version of Android. Bug fixes that may be included are:

• Frequent data connection dropout fix
• Camera focus fix
• Power Manager display wakelock fix
• Multiple Bluetooth fixes
• Random reboot fix
• USB debugging security fix
• Wi-Fi auto-connect fix
• Stuck in activation screen fix
• Missed call LED fix
• VPN Fix
