Evasi0n iOS 7.1 Update Is A Jailbrick & Not Jailbreak

Apple recently updated their operating system to iOS 7.1 and this patched the jailbreak that Evasi0n released, which worked for the Apple iPhone and iPad.

Now GottaBeMobile have said that there is a website with the name of 7jailbreak.com offering the jailbreak and it will work on all of the Apple iPhones, with the iPhone 5S being included. On the website it does say that owners can jailbreak their handsets with iOS 7.1 by clicking a link. This means that the device can be jailbroken without it needing to be connected to a computer.

However 7jailbreak.com used the name of the well-known jailbreaker Joshua Hill, he goes by the name of P0sixninja. Hill said that he had nothing to do with the site or the jailbreak and went on to say that the claims made about it being able to jailbreak iOS 7.1 handsets were lies.

If owners of Apple devices check the link for the jailbreak a pop up appears and this takes them to a page where the app can be downloaded. However this is the app store and the link makes money for the owner of the website.

Pod2g said that at the moment the team were not working on the jailbreak for iOS 7.1.

He said “For iOS 7.1, I don’t know … there is a big chance the evad3rs won’t focus on it as a team … expect that for iOS 8,” Pod2g told International Digital Times in an interview.

He said that perhaps he might work on it if he should become bored. He said “If one day, I find myself bored and can put enough time and energy into it, I have some ideas for how to make a 7.1 jailbreak … depending on how it has been fixed and other external events.”

So he hasn’t confirmed that the team were working on a jailbreak for iOS 7.1 but at the same time he hasn’t said that they will not work on it. Bear in mind that just before the iOS 6.1.3 jailbreak came out, the hackers told users to forget about that too.
