There had been some news that the Galaxy Nexus will not get the Android 4.4 KitKat. However, this might not be the case anymore. Developers from XDA forums had found updated binaries for the Galaxy Nexus GPU.
When Android 4.4 KitKat was announced, developers said the Galaxy Nexus would not get the update since Texas Instruments; the maker of the Galaxy Nexus processor had stopped supporting the processor. Google might mistakenly announce that the Galaxy Nexus would not get the update now that the GPU’s binary code had been updated for Android 4.4 KitKat. The updated binary code on the Galaxy Nexus GPU was intended to solve the graphical issues on the Galaxy Nexus. The binary code was 100% completed yet
Up until today, the Galaxy Nexus owners might not feel so left out thanks to the abundant custom ROMs for it. However, it might be time to upgrade the smartphone into a newer one. The Galaxy Nexus had been released on October 2011, which was two years ago. Those who bought the Galaxy Nexus on a two year contract basis might still be using the smartphone as there should be a few more months left on the contract.
It seems like the Galaxy Nexus users were planning to wait until their current contract end before they would get a new smartphone. Many are interested in getting themselves Google’s Nexus 5 after their Samsung Galaxy Nexus contract had ended. Which smartphone will be your upgrade?
