While it is nice to see automakers like Honda keeping the manual transmission option in their line-up, at the end of the day, the stick drivers will still be getting the short end of the stick.
It is nice to know that a manual transmission option is still there for those that really enjoy having more control over the way the car drive but the downside to it all is that you will only be able to drive a stick if you are willing to stick to the basic.
The new Honda Civic will be coming in with a few engine and trim option and while the manual transmission customers will still get to choose from the 2.0-liter engine and the 1.5 liters turbocharged engine, they will not only be able to go for any other trim other than the base trim for each engine option if they want to keep the manual transmission. Both engines will be coming with a six-speed manual transmission.
Although driving with a CVT might not be as fun as driving with a manual transmission, at least you get to save on the fuel cost. The Honda Civic with the 1.5 liters turbocharged engine and CVT will return about 36mpg on average while the same model with the six-speed manual transmission engine will return about 35mpg on average.
