2015 MacBook Pro Can Run 4K With More Bandwidth To Spare

If you have read our previous article, it is for certain that the upcoming Apple MacBook Pro is going to have 4K resolution support, even if it is not offered officially. The process can be achieved through utilizing a 4K-enabled monitor with Thunderbolt 2 cable.

However, this left many worried that the 4K resolution will leave room for no extra bandwidth on Thunderbolt 2. After doing some digging, we can confirm that there will be ample bandwidth for other functions so consumers can ease their worries.

In figures, 4K resolution at 60Hz requires only 12GBPS connectivity. The Thunderbolt 2 cable, on the other hand has support of up to 20GBPS. As such, there will be a surplus of 8GBPS and that is more than enough for consumers to plug in a hub with USB 3.0, gigabit Ethernet or other functions.

With that being said, consumers can bury their fears once and for all and hope for Apple to release the next-gen MacBook Pro soon. We personally can’t wait to see how the laptop will look like when running on 4K.
