Just recently, spy shots of what is believed by many to be Jaguar’s first ever electric car got leaked online and it got EV community really excited. We hate to be the villain in this tale but apparently, there is no Jaguar EV at all.
The spy shots actually depict the next-gen Jaguar XE. In case you are a stranger to Jaguar, the ‘E’ that is paired to the XE denotes the eco-diesel variant of the model. As such, the vehicle in the spy shots is neither a hybrid nor an EV.
Instead, the Jaguar XE ‘E’ is powered by a 2L Ingenium diesel engine with an output of 163 horsepower, a manual transmission and anti-resistance alloy wheels to give it the lowest CO2 emissions in the entire Jaguar range.
For more evidence, EV car lovers can check out Jaguar’s online configurator. Such a set-up is already available there and it will prove that the spy shots are nothing more than the most fuel savvy car from Jaguar.
