The Samsung Galaxy S5 is making its way out in April and now owners of the Samsung Galaxy S4 and other handsets are trying to decide whether to make the update. So here are some reasons why you might choose to go for the Samsung Galaxy S5.
Before Samsung launched the Samsung Galaxy S5 it was said to be a device that would blow others away. We heard that it would have a QHD resolution and the Qualcomm Snapdragon 805 or possibly the Exynos 6. We also heard that the design of the handset would be metal.
Of course it arrived with none of these things, but is does have some impressive traits, despite it not being what some people expected?
Many people believe that the Samsung Galaxy S5 is an incremental update but some smartphone owners have taken a cautious approach to the new handset. They have not gone rushing out to pre-order and instead have been asking questions about whether or not to buy it. So here are some reasons why you might want to take the plunge.
The Samsung Galaxy S5 is water and dust resistant and is IP 67 certified. This means that it does offer some protection although it isn’t waterproof.
The Samsung Galaxy S5 is made of plastic still, but it has been updated over the previous design of the Samsung Galaxy S5. The back of the handset isn’t high gloss polycarbonate like that of the Samsung Galaxy S4, instead it is dimpled. While it doesn’t offer the premium look of many other handsets it does feel better than the design found on the Samsung Galaxy S4.
It gives the handset a clean look and adds to the durability of the device.
The Samsung Galaxy S4 has a physical home button on the bottom of the device and it may look the same on the Samsung Galaxy S5, but it isn’t.
The home button on the Samsung Galaxy S4 is for navigation while that of the Samsung Galaxy S5 is for navigation and it is also a fingerprint scanner for added security. Up to three fingerprints can be stored on the device.
The Samsung Galaxy S4 has the 13MP camera and can take great photos and video at 1080p. The Samsung Galaxy S5 has a camera of 16MP and can take amazing photos and record video in 4k. Samsung outdid themselves as they added in fast auto focus for the Samsung Galaxy S5, at 0.3 seconds. The camera can take real time HDR photos along with video and there is selective focus, video stabilisation and a lot more.
The display of the Samsung Galaxy S5 is the same 1080p as that of the Samsung Galaxy S4, but it is 1 inch larger and has two features which may not be known.
The display uses an algorithm and sensors to change the display in response to the bright light. This is called local contrast enhancement and it offers an easier to read display when outside.
The Samsung Galaxy S5 also has Super Dimming, this drops the brightness down to 2cd/m2. This is a good mode for in the dark and helps to conserve the battery.
The Samsung Galaxy S5 and Samsung Galaxy S4 have KitKat 4.4.2 but Samsung have made additions to TouchWiz on the S5 and it comes packed with features, one of which is a kids mode. Ultra Power saving mode stretches out the life of the battery, while the S Health app uses the heart rate sensor.
The Samsung Galaxy S5 has a larger battery than the Samsung Galaxy S4, it is 2,800 mAh, while the S4 has a battery of 2,600 mAh. The Samsung Galaxy S5 runs on the Snapdragon 801 processor, which is more efficient that the 800 found in the Snapdragon 800. The Samsung Galaxy S4 has the Qualcomm Snapdragon 600.
