The latest Apple iOS 7.1 update has patched the untethered jailbreak of Evasi0n7 and now there are rumours going around that an iOS 7.1 jailbreak has now been released and that it works on the iPhone and iPad.
GottaBeMobile pointed out that the website 7jailbreak.com has been offering what they say is the remote jailbreak for iOS 7.1 and it works on all iPhones including the Apple iPhone 5S. The website said that users are able to jailbreak the iPhone running on iOS 7.1 by just clicking on a link and not having to have their handset connected to a computer.
7jailbreak.com has also been using the name of Joshua Hill, this is the well-known jailbreaker P0sixninja who has made many contributions in the past to jailbreaks. Hill confirmed that he didn’t belong to the website and said that the claims about it being able to jailbreak iOS 7.1 are lies.
When owners of the idevices check out the link for the remote jailbreak they see a pop-up which directs them to a page where they can download the app. This then takes them to the App store to download an app through a link and this makes money for the sites owner.
Hacker Pod2g said that the evad3rs team were not working on a jailbreak for iOS 7.1.
“For iOS 7.1, I don’t know … there is a big chance the evad3rs won’t focus on it as a team … expect that for iOS 8,” Pod2g told International Digital Times in an interview.
He said that he would only work on it if he became bored. He said “If one day, I find myself bored and can put enough time and energy into it, I have some ideas for how to make a 7.1 jailbreak … depending on how it has been fixed and other external events.”
While he didn’t confirm the likelihood of their being a jailbreak for iOS 7.1 he didn’t rebuff the idea completely. Of course before they released the iOS 6.1.3 jailbreak the team had told users to forget about it.
