Kingdom Hearts 3 Not Coming This Year, Here’s Why

Many Kingdom Hearts fans believe that Kingdom Hearts 3 will be making its debut this year but that is unlikely to happen despite of the Twitter claim made by Goofy’s voice actor, Bill Farmer.

There are many reasons to this and among them is the fact that Final Fantasy XV’s production. Square Enix has already confirmed before that it will be putting its entire focus on Final Fantasy XV and once the title is released, the game developer will give Kingdom Hearts 3 its undivided attention.

At the moment, Final Fantasy XV is in its finalizing stage and it will be a matter of months before it gets released. By then, it will be too late for Square Enix to launch Kingdom Hearts 3 this year.

Then there are the unfortunate deaths of Leonard Nimoy and Chikao Otsuka. Both famous actors are also voice actors for Master Xehanort, the villain in Kingdom Hearts 3. With the passing of both legends while Kingdom Hearts 3 is in production, it will definitely hurt the game’s ETA.

Finally is with Unreal 4. The newly-developed game engine will be powering Kingdom Hearts 3 and integration has yet to commence. This is evident if fans are to look at Square Enix job vacancies. Apparently, the developer is still looking for tech engineers to be part of Kingdom Hearts 3’s production team.

With all the above in mind, it is pretty obvious that Kingdom Hearts 3 won’t be coming this year but the next instead. Of course, there is no confirming this at least until Square Enix says so themselves.
