Toyota Hilux & Tacoma: Back Into The Future [PICS]

By right, every carmaker in the world is able to fuse a car and a pickup truck to create something new and exceptional. What is stopping the car manufacturers is the design, which doesn’t carry any appeal.

Well, Toyota is going to ignore that as they unveiled the A-BAT concept. The name basically means Advanced Breakthrough Aero Truck and it is going to be running on a hybrid powertrain that will also offer modern versatility, roominess, and style for a new kind of buyer.

The A-BAT was said to be something generalized for the masses. The vehicle is able to drive in the city, on the highways and even go off the road without messing up the extreme fuel consumption statistics.

The design, on the other hand, is developed by the TMS Advanced Product Strategy group and Calty, Toyota’s North American-based, research and design centre located in Newport Beach, California. It sports an awkwardly weird look that has some nice blends of luxury in it.

For starters, the doors are open like a cabinet fridge, thus making it more stylish and different. Everything is painted in bright sand brown for the interior and it allows the metal parts to stand out flawlessly.

While the A-BAT is still far from its production, we can expect Toyota to apply the futuristic elements on the upcoming Toyota Hilux and Tacoma. Both vehicles are aiming to get released next year and we won’t be surprised if their design is inspired by the A-BAT. After all, Toyota likes to move forward and the upcoming SUVs won’t have trouble doing so.
