Sony Xperia Z3 and Z2 To Be Updated to Android 5.0 Lollipop

A lot of the phone makers started to give out information about their plans to update their handsets to Android 5.0 Lollipop. However one handset maker that kept things to themselves was Sony. Sony have now opened up to talk about the update and the fact that it is heading to the Sony Xperia Z3 and the Z2.

We heard details from the WiFi Alliance that said the Sony Xperia Z3 with the model number D6603 is to get the update to Android 5.0 Lollipop. The certification happened on February 15.

Sony then made it known through their blog that devices such as the Xperia Z, Xperia ZL, Xperia ZR, Xperia Z1, Xperia Z Ultra, Xperia Z1 Compact, Xperia Z2, Xperia Z3, Xperia Z3v, Xperia Z3 Compact and Sony Z Ultra Google Play are the Xperia Z series smartphones, will all be updated. The Xperia Tablet Z, Xperia Z2 Tablet, and the recent Xperia Z3 Tablet Compact will also get updated to Android 5.0 Lollipop.

So it seems that Sony have made a lot of changes since they revealed in December of last year that the only handsets to be getting the update to Android 5.0 Lollipop would be the Sony Z Ultra GPE. This is great news for owners of the Sony Xperia Z3 and the Sony Xperia Z2 of course.
