Samsung Galaxy S3 Mini Update Instructions To Android 4.3

Owners of the Samsung Galaxy S3 Mini found out that they would not get updates from Samsung as they said it had reached its expiration date.

Owners had thought that they would get the update to Jelly Bean 4.3. Samsung pointed out that there was some issues with TouchWiz for the device and the UI is unable to integrate with Jelly Bean.

Of course this caused some upset and it meant that users are now stuck with an older OS. There is some hope for them though by way of CyanogenMod. Owners can install the CM10.2 ROM and it comes without bloatware.

Before going ahead and installing the ROM bear in mind that this only works with the I8910, I8910L and the I8910N variants of the S3 Mini. You will have to root your device and put CWM recovery on it. You also need to download Google Apps package and make sure that your battery is no less than 50% and you have made a back-up.

You can then follow the steps below.

1. Switch off your S3 mini and reboot the device into recovery mode (press and hold Volume Up + Home + Back keys simultaneously until the Samsung logo appears).
2. Create an Android backup of the current ROM by selecting “backup and restore > backup” to save the ROM on its SD card in case you want to restore it later on.
3. Perform “wipe data/factory reset” and “wipe cache partition.” Then select “advanced > wipe Dalvik cache.”
4. Begin the installation by selecting “install zip from SD card > choose zip from SD card > find the CyanogenMod 10.2 ROM you have copied earlier > confirm installation.”
5. Repeat the previous step but this time choose the Google Package file instead.
6. Once completed, go back to the main menu and choose “Reboot System Now”

Once the Samsung Galaxy S3 Mini has rebooted you will have Jelly Bean installed.
