Samsung Galaxy S3 Mini Gets Android 4.3 JellyBean Update (Guide)

The Samsung Galaxy S3 Mini is an old device that has missed out on the Android 4.3 Jellybean update. The Korean manufacturer did promise to give the S3 Mini their final update but cancelled it due to some issues with TouchWiz for the device.

While it may sound like a poorly made excuse from Samsung, users shouldn’t sulk over it as they can still rely on CyanogenMod. The team of XDA developers have created the CM10.2 specifically for the Samsung Galaxy S3 Mini GT-i8910, i8910L or the i8910N variants.

The custom ROM is also free of bugs, glitches and bloats which are something Samsung couldn’t do, or refused to do.

If you are using the GT-i8910, i8910L or the i8910N Samsung Galaxy S3 Mini and wish to proceed with the installation, make sure that your device is rooted and have CWM recovery installed. Also, create a backup and ensure that there is a minimum of 50% battery left in your device. After downloading the ROM and Google Apps Package, you can proceed with the installation as per below.

1. Switch off your S3 mini and reboot the device into recovery mode (press and hold Volume Up + Home + Back keys simultaneously until the Samsung logo appears).
2. Create an Android backup of the current ROM by selecting “backup and restore > backup” to save the ROM on its SD card in case you want to restore it later on.
3. Perform “wipe data/factory reset” and “wipe cache partition.” Then select “advanced > wipe Dalvik cache.”
4. Begin the installation by selecting “install zip from SD card > choose zip from SD card > find the CyanogenMod 10.2 ROM you have copied earlier > confirm installation.”
5. Repeat the previous step but this time choose the Google Package file instead.
6. Once completed, go back to the main menu and choose “Reboot System Now” to finish the process.
