Samsung Galaxy S3 Android 5.0 Update Available With Walkthrough!

The Samsung Galaxy S3 has long been axed by its manufacturer from receiving any further updates due to its age. This is unfortunate as the S3 is still used by many due to its reliability and still powerful hardwares.

S3 users shouldn’t be let down by this as there is another way to ensure that their device remains up-to-date. Apparently, there is a custom ROM containing the latest Android 5.0 Lollipop doing the rounds at the moment and it is built specifically for the Samsung Galaxy S3 GT-i9300 model.

Applying the ROM will offer better speed, improved battery life, latest Linux, dual-boot functionality, the new CPU Governors, and more.

On the downside of things, the Android 5.0 Lollipop is still in its early build which means that there are bound to be issues with the system. The ROM creator is courtesy enough to reveal that the camera, radio, storage Wi-Fi, GPS, and screen off features are broken. Of course, the issues will be addressed in the future updates.

If you are a Galaxy S3 GT-i9300 user and wouldn’t mind the issues to get a taste of the Lollipop, then you can check out the installation guide below. Do note that we are not responsible for any damages, loss of data and undesired outcomes caused by the update.

Pre-requisite
1. Do make sure that the S3 has at least 50% of battery to avoid any disruption during installation.
2. Create a backup of the device.
3. Root the S3 with CWM recovery.
4. Unlocked bootloader.
5. The custom ROM file, Google Apps Package, Arter97 Kernel for S3 and CWM Recovery downloaded.

Flashing Instruction
1. Install the ROM by restoring the backup from the SD Card backup folder.
2. Extract the zip file and copy and paste the Rom in the device.
