Samsung Galaxy S3 Android 4.3 Update Now Available With Custom Paranoid Android ROM

Samsung had already announced that the Android 4.3 Jelly Bean update was going to roll out for the Samsung Galaxy S3 soon enough. However, if you are not the waiting type, the ParanoidAndroid v.3.97 custom ROM is now available thanks to XDA Developers.

This version of Android 4.3 brings some bug fixes and a new hybrid user interface. However, this update is only for Samsung Galaxy S3 GT-i9300. Here is what you need before you can install the update;

• CWM recovery installed on your Galaxy S3
• Install Samsung Galaxy S3 USB drivers on your computer
• Enable USB debugging mode on your Samsung Galaxy S3
• At least 80% of battery charge is still available
• Unlock and root your Galaxy S3.

Follow the steps outlined below to make the ROM installation;

1. Connect your Galaxy S3 to your PC via USB cable
2. Copy the ROM and Google Apps zip files into your Galaxy S3’s SD card root folder
3. Switch the Galaxy S3 off and disconnect it from your PC
4. Boot into CWM recovery by pressing volume up, power and home buttons simultaneously
5. Backup your current ROM in case you need to restore it later by selecting Backup and Restore then choose backup
6. Perform Wipe Data/Factory Reset
7. Perform Wipe Cache partition
8. Perform Wipe Dalvik cache under Advance
9. Go to main menu, choose “Install zip from SD card”. Find and select the ROM you copied earlier. Wait until it completes.
10. Repeat the previous step but this time select Google Apps package file instead.
11. Once the Google Apps had been installed, download and install NFC-fix
12. Go back to main menu and perform Wipe Cache Partition and Wipe Dalvik Cache once again to prevent bootloop.
13. Finally, Select “Reboot system now”

The first boot up after ROM installation will take longer than usual. Don’t worry since this is totally normal. Your Samsung Galaxy S3 is now running on Android 4.3 Jelly Bean with Paranoid Android custom features.
