Porsche Macan: Is It Worth The Wait & Price?

The Macan first entered the market during the LA Auto Show late last year and Malaysia is not that late to receive it. In detail, the Macan will be parked in Malaysia somewhere in Q4 with September being the likeliest period.

It is dubbed to be the first sportscar in the compact SUV department to arrive in the Malaysian automobile market and will come with the 2.0 litre turbo four engine with 237bhp and 350Nm. The power output translates to 0-100km/h in 6.9s. On top of that, the Macan is topped at 223km/h.

For a luxurious SUV like the Macan, it came as a surprise when Porsche revealed it to achieve 100km with only 7.2 litres of petrol. Of course, this is in the NEDC combined cycle.

Of course, this is based on the entry level specs. The performance improves with the Macan S and Macan S diesel. The former is equipped with a 3.0 V6 biturbo which produces 340bhp and 460Nm, 0-100km/h in 5.4s and top speed of 254km/h. As for the latter, it is the same 3.0 V6 biturbo that produces 245bhp, 580Nm and 0-100km/h in 6.3s. The important factor here is the fuel consumption which recorded 6.3litres in 100km.

If speed is a major criterion, there is the top of the line Porsche Macan Turbo. Under the hood, it has a new 3.6 litre V6 biturbo engine. It produces 400bhp, 550Nm, 0-100km/h in 4.8s and 266km/h max.

All four variants will cost RM450k, RM560k, RM550k and RM780k respectively.
