Next Mitsubishi Montero / Pajero Draws Inspiration From This

Mitsubishi has been losing their dominance in the automotive market over the past decade and now, they are looking to make a comeback. The Japanese carmaker had just released a couple of photos of the Outlander PHEV Concept-S and it looks like a champion in the making.

The concept is basically a special design package that will be applied on the current Outlander PHEV. It offers a new X-shaped face that removes a line dividing the front bumper and the side fenders.

Inside the vehicle, everything looks classy and premium. The combination of black and burgundy brought out the luxury feel which is rare to come from a Japanese car. There is a black woodgrain trim with silver accent and also a centre console design inspired by Japanese traditional black lacquered boxes.

The Outlander PHEV Concept-S will be relying on a plugin hybrid EV system that works similarly like a 4WD. The front and rear axles are each powered by permanent magnet synchronous motors, fed by a 12 kWh lithium ion battery. This is paired to a 2L four cylinder DOHC MIVEC engine.

While the Outlander PHEV might be a slow seller, the new design will surely be a major booster. The SUV will be making its way to the Paris Motor Show in a fortnight’s time and might also be the much-needed inspiration for the future Mitsubishi Montero and Pajero.
