Minecraft Lets You Shield Now, New Patch Released

Minecraft is looking to make things a little more competitive and fun for the fans by offering a few new Combat Mechanic. We saw the beta version last month and now the developers are ready to release the full version.

The new Combat mechanic will come with the new 1.9 Update. Besides added a whole list of new combat mechanic, the update will also add in a few new features like igloos, a new mob, as well as new Purpor and End Rod blocks.

Like update will be released on PC first before making its way to the console versions. You can check out the full list of new and updated features below.

Minecraft 1.9 Update Notes

Added shields
Attacking now has a “cool-down” delay, making it more important to time your attacks
You can now hold items in both hands (default quick key to swap items is ‘F’)
Swords have a special sweep attack
Axes have a special crushing blow attack
