It is really difficult to find a Lotus vehicle roaming around the streets in the US due to their scarcity in the local market. Now, things are not looking to get any better after the Evora has been exiled from this great nation.
The last street-legal sports car is being forced to be taken out from sales in the US after it failed to meet the local regulation. Lotus was given a warning before on the 2014 Evora that the vehicle has 12 months to get smart airbag. Failing to do so will make the Evora and illegal vehicle to drive due to the safety hazards that comes with it.
While Lotus could have just complied with the US laws and regulations, the Malaysian-owned British carmaker chooses to ignore the plea. This could be due to the Evora’s poor sales that forced Lotus to save their cash from the re-engineering process.
As of today, the year-long grace period is over and there will be no chance for the Evora to continue its stay in the US. It is unfortunate to also learn that Lotus are only selling two vehicles in the country and they are the Elise and the Exige.
