It is frustrating times for LG G2 users as the South Korean tech manufacturer is still pending to launch the highly anticipated Android 5.0 Lollipop update to the device.
If you are an LG G2 user, you don’t have to rely on LG for updates any longer. It is about time for you to get to XDA and check out what the independent developers have got to offer.
One XDA user, Rashed97, had just launched a custom ROM containing the Android 5.0 Lollipop to the G2 D800, D801, D802, LS980 and VS980 variants. The custom ROM comes with all the features of the Lollipop intact but there are a couple of early build issues with it.
The good news is that Rashed97 will be sending out fixes to the issues in the coming weeks so it is nothing to worry about. If you are interested in applying the custom ROM to your G2, then you can download the firmware over XDA. Once done, you can refer to the following procedure.
Pre-requisite
1. Make sure a backup is created and the device is already rooted with CWM. We recommend doing so with NANDROID.
2. A minimum of 50% battery life to ensure no disruption when installation is taking place.
3. CM12 ROM ZIP downloaded for the G2.
4. Google Apps Package downloaded.
Flashing Instruction
1. Transfer both the Custom ROM and Google Apps Package to your G2.
2. Boot device into recovery mode and wipe cache, data and system partition.
3. Flash the CM12 ROM.
4. Then, Flash the Google Apps Package.
5. The G2 should reboot and it will run on the Lollipop OS.
