Hummer HX: Financial Woes Left Project Stranded

Hummer has long served the automotive industry as the world’s leading luxury 4×4 producer but lately, the company has not been doing so well. This is partly due to the amplified global demand for fuel efficient vehicles, which Hummer has failed to offer.

For the enthusiasts, this is disappointing as they won’t see any new Hummer moniker until the company gets out of bankruptcy. It was a pretty bad halt for Hummer as they were just about to unveil a new concept. Today, we have received details on Hummer’s final plan and it is the HX.

Unlike most other vehicles from Hummer, the HX is going to be more compact. The concept measures 171” long. Under the hood, the vehicle runs on a 3.6L direct-injected V6 that produces 304hp and 273lb-ft of torque. The engine is paired to the 6L50 6-speed automatic transmission and there’s a full-time 4WD system with a locking center differential.

Even for a compact vehicle, the HX is considered to be something huge as it stands on 20” tyres. This is attached 15” Brembo brakes on all four corners. The spring measure at 2.5” and it will ensure a smooth travelling experience, even when on the off-roads. Furthermore, this allows the HX to climb 60% slopes, 40% side slope and 2-feet of water.

As for the design, it was created by three young bloods in the company. This explains why the HX looks exactly like military ‘Jeeps’ in the war video games.

No matter how good the Hummer HX sounded to be, it is unfortunate to learn that it won’t get produced at all. After all, Hummer has crashed into the brick wall and requires an massive aid to make a comeback in the automotive industry.
